I am not sure if I can do this but I found this $10 off coupon or something like that on italki.

I got my own French teacher there, I have had 2 lessons and I think I am gonna get 5 more lessons.

I think the trick is that you have to pay for one lesson first and then you get $10. I still think is a great deal, specially when they let you try for cheaper up to 3 teachers. I love italki, and I can recommend 2 French teachers if you want me too.

There are 2 kind of teacher, professionals and tutors. I got a tutor because they are much cheaper and what I really need is mostly speaking and I have been lucky so far with the 2 I got.

I like italki as well.

Great for conversation practice, but also good if you want to some face-to-face structured lessons. Or if you want someone to answer questions you have or coach you in pronunciation.

Some advantages of paid sessions versus language exchanges:

  • the person is much more likely to show up at the time you set up, because there's money involved.
  • you're paying them to speak their language, so you can speak French for the whole hour, rather than "having to" speak your language (say, English) for half an hour
  • the sessions are all about you and your needs

EXACTLY!! I got really frustrated with my conversation partners, that's why I started paying. Also, the tutor/teacher actually knows what they are doing.
