Duolingo is the most popular way to learn languages in the world. Best of all, it's 100% free!

Suggestions

Could we have account privacy settings because I'm getting relatives to join Duolingo and they don't want to be followed by people who they don't know.

  • Could we increase our daily goals HIGHER than 50 XP? Because I have like 200/50 XP right now and I want to increase my daily goal.

  • Could we make like groups or something in Duolingo like how you can in Facebook? For example, I create a Dutch learners group. And give us some privacy settings which are like this:

You have two choices on how to put your group. Private or Public.

Private This means that only members can see posts of the group and only members can see other members

Public This means that everyone can see posts and members.

  • When someone is online on Duolingo, can you make it say "Online" on their profile so we can know if they're online or offline.

And our last one: Thanks to DanielSebo for the idea!

It would also be good to see how many lingots someone has. Then you would know whether you should support lingot beggars.

Nope. But they can block anyone who follows them, and that will take care of it fairly immediately.

Nice Idea, but I thought it would be difficult to block a lot of people.

One by one, of course. It's not actually an issue at all until they are followed. But really I don't see what difference it makes.

Cool. I love your Italian level 25 and 365 day streak :) Hopefully one day we can have a chat. :D

I got my mom to join Duolingo since she is starting French classes in April. She would probably appreciate a privacy feature.

I like the idea of a privacy feature. Parents with younger children could use it as well as people who just don't want to have followers. For now, your family can go to settings and put in their Bio "Please do not follow me; you will be blocked." < One guy's bio in a competition of mine who actually gave up 15 lingots and blocked me just because I followed him. But I think we should make this public. Spread the word, and maybe we can get Duo to give us a privacy lock of the sort.

Parents can make use of Duolingo for Schools feature wherein one of the parents account can act as the teacher profile for the kids. The parent will have option to turn off the discussion forum as well as activity stream for the kids.
