confused - It doesn't say photo specifically in the english, why is "cette image vaut des millions" wrong?

Why not: ce portrait?

Tableau should be acceptable, since it is more likely what it is referring to. I can't say I've ever heard of a photo being worth millions, but many paintings are!

In the world of fine art and historical photography, a single photo can indeed bring millions at auction!

However ”cette tableau” and even “cet image” should be accepted since “picture” is a non-specific word.

Doisneau?perhaps

In my opinion you could translate picture as "le tableau" as well

definitely, give me my heart back

Yes, misleading - a "picture" implies a "painting", especially in the context of millions!

Photo is too restrictive in our multmedia world. Image should be accepted.

yup, I put 'cet image' too. Feel robbed!

'Cette image' is accepted (at least now).

A picture is not necessarily a photograph.

    https://www.duolingo.com/profile/monobunny

"image" is not the same as picture?

Is the des here some or de les, and therefore does valoir take de, and if so why not in combien vaut mon manteau?

"photographie" est refusé, c'est pourtant le mot exact :| "photo" n'est que l'abbréviation

I was going for "cette peinture" but no dice.

    https://www.duolingo.com/profile/NetAndyCz

    photo != picture

    https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Geoff_Campbell

Yes, tableau should be accepted as picture can mean a painting or a photograph in English.

    https://www.duolingo.com/profile/lkt005

a tableau is more of a board or canvas isnt it?

    https://www.duolingo.com/profile/lpacker

In French, a painting is referred to as tableau or peinture. Take a look at linguee.fr (a very valuable tool) and see how it's translated there.
