Tips and immersion in the Android app
I mostly use Duolingo on my phone because it's just so much more convenient to me than sitting in front of my computer.
However, I've noticed that two main features from the web version are missing: first lesson tips, where you get some information about the current lesson. Second, the Immersion section, where you translate real content from the web (and also where you give back to the team, something I really want to do).
I understand the second one may be harder to implement, but could you guys maybe just put a "Tips" button somewhere inside the lesson screens, that opens a popup with the relevant information?
I've been using the app and started reading the comments on questions. I kept seeing a reference to tips and notes, but could never find it. After finding this question, logging into the site, and seeing it. HOLY SMOKES! Duolingo is doing a major disservice to app users not including this information in the app. So many things became instantly clearer to me after just spending a few minutes reading those notes.
PLEASE ADD THIS TO THE APP!!!
I haven't experienced the immersion part of Duolingo yet, but I really like the Tips & Notes! It would be so great if we could access this information from the app!!
I hate to be that guy but... bump. This seems like it would be a fairly easy thing to do that would be extremely useful to someone like me.
The tips & notes section is fundamental to be able to learn the grammar. It is a shame that it is missing in the app.
Exactly what I have been thinking of. I really like the immersion part of Duolingo. Hopefully it will be present soon.
I'm reluctant to use the app because of the lack of tips and notes. It's so important to have this in the app.
Yup! Bump. I also haven't come across the immersion yet, but Tips and Notes would be super handy in the app.
Any news on these two features?
I would love to try immersion but I don't own a pc.
I'm going to add a resounding PLEASE! to all the comments on this thread regarding the tips and notes section. It would be incredibly helpful. I already speak Spanish on a low-end intermediate level but even on some of the more basic lessons, I forget little things and having those tips truly makes a world of difference. If you already are somewhat familiar with the subject of the lesson, it can serve to jog your memory. If the content is completely new to you, it would be helpful to know a little about the lesson before you are asked questions about it. Again Duolingo, I love your website and like your app, but PLEASE add the tips and notes screen to the android app. Thank you.
What the hell? It's been ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ 2 years Duo, 2 years. What are you doing???
totally agree with you! it'd be very useful yet not so hard to do. you should think about it
how are we supposed to properly learn a new language if there is no "tips and notes" section on the app? please add this as soon as possible!!
Everything was said already, so once again a shoutout to the admins: PLEASE include the tips and notes in the mobile app, pleeaase!
I totally agree with all previous comments. Please add the "Tips and notes" in the app!
i am heavily disappointed by duo devs not able to add a simple, however still key feature for whole 3 years now...
Bump. I was already familiar with Esperanto and had studied Spanish for 3 years in High School and had 3 courses in college before trying Duolingo, which I found through the Google Play Store on Android.
My Spanish was just rusty enough after 5+ years of being out of school to not remember some of the things that Duolingo teaches, and Esperanto was nearly impossible. My wife hasn't studied Esperanto at all and is totally lost.
Then I found out I can do the lessons on the computer and not just through the app, and the lessons really help. Please add them to the app, Duolingo!
I am also going to bump this. I prefer to learn on the app so i can do it during my lunch break on my phone and I need to read the notes.
Bumping this! Just discovered duolingo. Love it. I use the app, felt like something was missing and came to the website and boom "tips and notes section". Currently level 4 Turkish and i'm probably going to have to redo old exercises to make sure I didn't miss anything. Please add "tips and notes section" to the app for a more complete experience! Thanks!
It might be worth changing your review on the app store to mention this, as they seem to read a few of those from time and time again.
Totally agree, I'm going to PC to see the Tips&Notes, but it would be so much convenient to have it on the app too. Changing your app review on Play Store is a good idea, maybe they will finally do something about this.(If they are not already)
Bump. 4 years and still unsolved.. I got to know about the tips section from the comments. I just logged into the website after spending about 30 days on the app and so much of the grammar has become clearer. I use Duolingo on my commute and I'd barely ever use the website to read through stuff. I wish they could just add a button.
I have been doing my lessons on the app and when I now go to the desktop, there are only 2 lessons with tips and notes...what happened to them? I can't believe they took away something fundamental and spend time launching stuff that we don't want. I'm really discouraged with DUO now.
