Including an image

How does one include an image in a DL post? There have been times when I try to describe a situation, but an image would be much better. Here is an example:

You insert this text into your post. ![Alt text](Insert URL here) Hope this helps! :) i.e. ![Alt text](http://i.imgur.com/fS4yRCs.png)

It took me a while to understand that the exclamation point is necessary to getting the image to be embedded

But now that I finally get it (duh), I'm most grateful.

By the way, it does work with jpgs. The fireworks I posted here is a jpg, not even from imgur. https://www.duolingo.com/comment/1876694$from_email=comment&comment_id=1918124

Thank you, BarbaraMorris. I guessed afterward that any image type will work. But in all the various edits of the first post with embedded images, I had uploaded .pngs as screenshots to replace the .jpgs I had uploaded as well, so I went with .pngs.

remove the spaces just outside the square brackets, then it will work

Coleman-Trebor.jpg

I don't understand why the words "Coleman-Trebor.jpg" don't appear in addition to the image.

Because the URL you are putting in is not a URL of an image, it is the URL of the website that the image comes from. Try right clicking and selecting 'open image in a new tab', then copy the URL and paste it in the equation ! [AltText] (URL) without the spaces
