I'm not sure if anybody else has experienced/discussed this issue prior to this post, but I noticed this while I was checking my German Immersion status. Yesterday, I uploaded and worked on an article about the Russo-Japanese War, translating sentences here and there, and eventually took a break. Prior to working on the article, I had 26 upvotes for my progress to the next tier (from 13 to 14).

After a while, I came back to do some more translations and make some corrections when I noticed that some of my sentences had been upvoted (with most of them having one or two), so I went back to my progress bar to see how much further I needed to go.

But when I got there, it said I still had only 26 upvotes...

At first, I was confused, because there were clear signs that people have upvoted my work. I'm not sure if this is a glitch in the system or some other factor, but I did find it a little frustrating that what I did essentially amounted to nothing. All I can hope for is that this would only be a one-time event, and not a persistent problem.

Again, I am uncertain whether or not others have experienced this issue, so if anybody else has, let me know, but this was something I just happened to notice.

Could be that those "ghost" upvotes came from people at lower tiers - their votes wouldn't count in the total of upvotes needed to move you to the next tier.

You do not get votes from people in a lower tier than yours. Also, you don't receive every single vote you 'get'. You only receive 1 vote for every five words in the sentence you translated.

I was aware of the second point, but not the first. Thank you for filling me in!

You are approaching 'High Tier Status' in German Immersion. You have 3 options:

1) Cease and desist immediately;

2) Maintain tier level through sporadic translations without signifying intent for advancement;

3) Make friends with other high level anomalies and continue your upward spiral into the elite translation stratosphere.

Did anyone downvote any of your translations? Also, how many words were in the translation? You can only get 1 vote per every 5 words in your translation, and mixing that with the downvoting, it could have been both.

I am aware of the 1 vote per five words, and should I have downvotes, they would have appeared alongside my upvotes.
