I've been making it up as I go:). I assign some beginning activities regarding their histories and background before beginning duo lingo. Then we do a little research into some cultures. Monday's, Tuesday's and Thursday's we do duo lingo for 1/2 an hour. Wednesday's are culture days. I provide a culture activity. Friday's are conversation days and students group into like languages and practice accents, words, forming sentences, etc. I sometimes wish they had more "useful" language.., like greetings, etc. But they seem just as excited to say "I am a man" in whatever language:). I really want to give some incentives... But it is too easy for them to click on the dots and type what they see. I would LOVE to see a quiz without answers that the kids could take as a final.... Just so I could really celebrate the progress!!
So, I'm very interested on using Duolingo with my students and to keep learning together! Greetings / Hälsningar / Saludos!
I just started teaching English to my neighbors who only speak Arabic. I'm using DuoLingo as my homework piece so that I can track their study habits. Is there going to be a workshop or Webinar available this fall? I have another question as well. Three of the boys in my class will be starting classes in our area High School. Is there a way that I can allow the ESL teacher to see their progress on DuoLingo as well?
