Over a year ago Duolingo/Luis announced the Test Centre. Starting with English certification but following with other languages shortly...

"We're starting with English because it has the highest demand for proficiency evaluation. However, the test will be available for other languages in the next few months." https://www.duolingo.com/comment/2984868

Since then I have heard nothing about tests for other languages. What is happening with this?

We still plan to add other languages. It should happen at some point this year. Right now we're concentrating on getting the English certification accepted by institutions all over the world.

Thank you for letting us know it's still in the plan. I know that having an online, generally-accepted test in many of the offered languages here would be fantastic, and getting the English test accepted universally accepted is probably a required first step.

It would be interesting to hear how it is going with getting the English tests accepted by the institutions too.

I really look forward to the tests becoming available in other languages. I currently need to do a German test, but put off by not only the cost, but the "scariness" of the exam situation. Doing it online at home would be much better.

Yeah, I think so too. I probably won't be as nervous at home.

I suspect Luis is trying to get the test results approved or accepted by various academic, commercial and government centres. I don't know what standard he is testing to, but being able to compare Duo's test results with other standards would be vital I think.

It would be incredible helpful to have Catalan in the test centre. As far as I know there is no standardized Catalan test internationally available, at least when I googled for them I only found exams which have to be taken in Spain. But I know that other languages have more priority.

Good question, I would like to take tests in the languages I have learned here, it would be a goal to work towards and thus a source of motivation (I wouldn't want to pay for a certification and then screw it up :-/).
