why is there "canım" here?
It's an idiomatic expression. "Canım" is kind of like "my soul". It's used in a lot of other Turkish expressions.
Thanks for your reply. But do you mean, whenever someone in Turkey wants to say "it hurts," he would use "canım" together with "acıyor"?
It can be, but doesn't have to be :)
Yes. they would use this or '....(where the pain is) acıyor.'
Elim acıyor: My hand hurts.
Parmağım acıyor: My finger hurts.
