Can you reach new immersion tiers with the immersion "hack?"

I am sooooo happy that this new "hack" has been discovered, however as have two questions: Can you reach higher tiers than 1, and does Xp count towards the language that you are translating in, or the language that you are accessing immersion through?

I wish people would stop downvoting everything. Those are legit questions and I'm very excited about trying Swedish immersion.

I'll definitely use immersion for Ukrainian if it's still around when I'm ready to start. I want to finish my tree first but Ukrainian is hard and I still have a long way to go.

Thanks! Now that I read the rest of the thread I decided not to use the immersion hack anymore. I take Duolingo seriously and I want my level to reflect the efforts I've put into that one language.

Well, as below, you can have the progress reflected in the language you wish it to be in. Simply ensure you have the Ukrainian tree selected, and click on this link: https://www.duolingo.com/translations/upload

This way, the Xp will count towards Ukrainian!

The hack allows you to upload immersion articles in most languages, even those that don't support immersion. For example, you can upload a Swedish document, and translate it.

About reaching higher tiers, I am uncertain, because progress in a language that does not support Immersion does not appear in your profile. Though I have not done this long enough to see if you can reach higher tiers than 1, I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't increase (but very surprised if it does!)

For experience, the experience counts towards the language that the article was uploaded through. For say, you uploaded a Swedish article on German Immersion, the experience counts towards your German progress, not your Swedish progress.

Thank you so much! That is very helpful! I am disappointed that the Xp doesn't count toward Swedish though! I guess I will have to reach level 25 in German before I can properly use Swedish Immersion (I like to keep things as honest as possible!)

Understandable. I mean, it would be pretty strange reaching level 25 of one language by studying a different language.

Swedish article on German Immersion, the experience counts towards your German progress, not your Swedish progress.

I was able to fix that, by changing to the target languages before uploading a document.

I'm pretty sure I'm at tier 2 in Russian > English translation, so I'd say yes, you can reach new tiers. Doesn't appear to turn up on one's profile, but when you move up a tier, the notification appears on your stream. (Though actually I didn't notice until I was in an article and saw my own profile.)

Do you mean getting more XP when you level up? Honestly, I'm not sure exactly how it works, but I did notice I was getting XP for voting on other people's sentences which wasn't happening before, so... I guess so?? It seems to work how you'd expect, I guess.

Thanks! I'll explain a little better: With each tier, you earn more Xp per word. It caps at tier 4. On tier 1, you earn 1/8 Xp per word. Tier 2: 1/4. Tier 3: 1/2. Tier 4: 1. So, if you translate an 80 word sentence on tier 1, you only ear 10Xp. But on tier 4, you get 80.

Okay, I've been doing a lot of from-Russian immersion today, and I thought I'd understood it, and that you didn't seem to get that much more, but now I'm uncertain because I'm not sure I understood it right in the first place 8-o

I'm kind of shattered right now, but with my new slightly better understanding, I'll try and take note next time I do some. I got quite caught up in the story I was translating so I probably didn't take as much notice as I could've to the XP!
