Translation:Tamten mężczyzna jest niski.
Why can't you say tamten pan? My understanding is that pan by itself is used as formal you (to a man) but specifying ten pan/tamten pan would then refer to a man.
You are 100% correct, in many sentences Polish people would use "pan" more often than "mężczyzna". But Duo's literal translation thing would say that pan = mister, gentleman ; pani=lady , Missus
