Language buddies wanted!
I am looking for language buddies to help keep each other motivated, and maybe discuss progress & share resources.
Me? just started Russian so i don't mind. But i don't always go on Duo everyday so.........if you don't want an everyday thing - I'll do it. : )
I'm new to russian too and i think i might be needing your experience more than you will need mine :D
I've been learning German for many years and have just started with the Russian and the Portuguese, so any help or someone to talk to in any of these languages (French too) would be appreciated :)
Ok! I have my friendly competition now, I'm happy!
So, what other resources are people using? I've tried Rosetta Stone, which was similar to Duolingo (this was before the course here was available), though expensive, not as good, and eventually stopped working on my computer.
I also tried a couple audio courses from the library: Pimsleur which was very typical (grammar drills - dense, unnatural learning style), and Michel Thomas, which I loved.
The Michel Thomas one really gets you speaking and thinking about the sentences, and helps a lot with the pronunciation. Very nice to pair with Duolingo (for spelling and memorization, and grammar practice.
I've seen Memrise mentioned a few times, though I'm hesitant to add a third source right now (don't want to drop the balls that are already in the air), has anyone tried it? What is the format?
