Timed Practice Stressful
Does anyone else find the timed practice to be really stressful? I went from casually reading and typing my answers to frantically trying to get it done before time runs out! It's definitely an eye opener.
Yes, it is. It's also a more realistic way of using the language than normal practice is, as you wouldn't normally have a long time to think about your answer in a conversation.
My suggestions are to only use timed practice when you feel like normal practice is almost too easy -- that's when you are ready for it. Remember that you can practice a specific skill or even a specific lesson separately. Also, don't wait until you're halfway down the tree or so before you start using timed practice regularly (for general practice), as the number of words you have to have (literally) at your fingertips is so large by then. The earlier you start, the better, that way you get used to the hectic pace.
But don't beat yourself up about it if it feels too stressful, practice a bit more and try again later. We've all had those 0 XP timed practice rounds...
I agree and I have almost completely stopped using it. I much rather think about what I am doing and then do it correctly. And read the comments on a sentence if there are any.
Yeah, it gets a little rough. Especially in a language that uses alot of accents (Such as Swedish, Esperanto...anything other than English, HEH!). I've done many Esperanto timed practices where I've wasted several seconds frantically either trying to hit the correct accent button or stumbling over my fingers as I typed it using an x. "Cxvu la....Cxuy....CXU la!"
Try not to let it get to you, having said that sometimes it can be a bit frustrating. I think Annika's advice is spot on.
You can buy it with lingots in the store. Then it is a standard option under "Strengthen Skills".
I checked the store and next to timed practice it has a grey button that says "Equipped" with a check mark. So I guess I already "own" this feature.
