Is anyone fluent in Latin?

I have been wanting an English to Latin course for a REALLY long time. I have also gotten interested in how to start a course, so I asked a mod about it (thanks Usagiboy7, you're a lifesaver). He said that in order to make a new course, someone has to be fluent in the language and contribute to the course. So if anyone is fluent (or close to fluent) in Latin, please contact a moderator or admin for more details, because I believe that when I say this, I say this for a lot of "Duolingoers" that I really want a Latin course and if you will please contribute, we (or at least I) will be so happy and (possibly) give you a donation of a few lingots for doing this. Thank you for taking your time to read this, and I hope that you will sare your language gifts that you have with others.

Please follow Usagiboy7 because he is so helpful (and totally awesome): www.duolingo.com/Usagiboy7

There are a lot of people who are fluent in Latin - not me included - and I am sure there are a lot of people who have applied to making a course of this highly demanded language.

Duolingo has probably not yet understood the importance of the language, down-prioritizing it for other languages, such as Klingon which they apparently find more interesting, but it will probably come in some time.

No, but I have some decent Latin notes if anybody wants them. I have notes for three lessons of Latin, just ask!

My fiancé is fluent! He has a classics studies degree and always translates unsubtitled latin on the tv for me. I think he would love to do this and I'll let him know people are interested. Are people supposed to go to mods to ask to contribute to new courses or just fill out the "I speak this I want to teach this" menu on the incubator?

You go to this link: https://incubator.duolingo.com/apply and basically just fill out the form. When it says choose what course, you scroll down to the bottom and press "Other course." Then enter Latin and fill out the rest of the form. This will include answering some questions like why do you think that Duolingo should have this language. The only slightly personal info is confirming that you are 13 years or older (which I'm certain that he is since he's your fiance) and your email address (which you already give duolingo when you make an account). Thank you so much for helping us with this!

Well, actually if you speak English then you automatically know some Latin, since English is heavily influenced by Latin. Most of them are "non-organic" words like "car" or "hospital" :)

Yes, that's true

Surely someone using the Duolingo app/website is proficient in Latin, but its a fact that very few people visit the discussion board. Im afraid i cannot help you at all but offer advice to go search on other websites and forums, since you really seem passionate about this, and i wish it could be made to happen. My suggestion is to try Interpals
