Let's speak French!
Consider this as a game, trust me, this is going to be fun!
In English there are many ways to say "I'm fine" when being asked "How are you?". For example:
- I'm doing great
- I'm never better
- I'm feeling fresh
- All is calm
- Nothing much
All these are answers to "How are you?" in English, and they all mean "I'm fine" (somehow). You know what I mean, right?
Let's start by asking the same question in French, what are some common answers to " Comment ça va ? " in French?
After that everyone can add his/her own question and we get to share some common answers we know, maybe by asking real people around us who are fluent in French.
Let's ROCK n' ROLL!
Remember, keep it simple ;-)
Bonjour mon pote, je sais comment parler le francais comme un natif parce j'ai vecu en France 10 ans. Pour commencer, tu pose la question "Comment vas-tu?" ou "comment ca va?" et la autre personne peut te dire: Je vais bien Je suis bien Tres bien Ca va bien Ce sont les plus utilisés formes pour repondre a cette question
- Je vais bien
- Je suis bien
- Tres bien
- Ca va bien
Yep, those are pretty common in French. Merci mon pote <- j'aime ça .. haha
Cool, you're level 6 and you know more than I do already.. haha.
Well the best advice I can give you (as a beginner) is to fully memories and understand the 4 verbs:
- être (to be)
- avoir (to have)
- aller (to go)
- faire (to do)
Then from there go into word endings in present, past, and future participles. As far as I understand, if you master those you master French basics.
Please anyone correct me if i'm wrong.
Thanks for the advice Mr. Omar . its one of our subject back in college since we are taught the basic it makes me interested to pursue learning french so that it won't be a waste that's why i am here in Duolingo :) i'll remember that 4 verbs
Oh wow! I wasn't expecting that. We have 10 common answers to " Comment ça va ? ". Isn't that brilliant?
Let's write them down, memorize them, and go out there and USE them. :D
- Je vais bien = I'm doing well
- Je suis bien = I'm fine
- Tres bien = Very good
- Ca va bien = It goes well
- Jamais mieux = Never better
- Pas mal. Et toi? = Not bad. And you?
- Tranquille, et toi ? = Quiet, and you?
- Ça roule! = OK!
- Super = Super
- Nickel = I'm fine (used between friends and pronounced Neeckel)
I wonder how many common ways to say: "See you later" in French. Any suggestions? or add your own question or phrase to see how many common ways to say that in French!
Ask your friends and share it with us, here, with your Duolingos :p
what's nickel? i used google translate and it translated it to the same word.
Oh I get it.. lol.. thanks a lot SeeneeGazelle. I'll add it to the list.
Bonjour, comment ça va? Je peux lire et écrire en peu Français, mais je oublié souvent les mots. Je ne sais pas le grammaire, donc c'est parfois difícile d'écrire des phrases en Français qui make sense.
D'oú est tu? Je suis Norvégien. :)
Moi aussi, je trouve ça difficile écrire une phrase en français. mais nous y arrivons. ;-)
