All of them were brilliant t

Should we not recognise them and thank them.

Without those lovely moderators Duolingo would not be as nice and wonderful as it is.

I have reposted this post because now we can thank them again

But it is true

Everybody would agree..

You are all the best.

How could you be compared and say that one is better than the other.

Together brilliant..

Moderators were so Helpful when I first started last year and now their knowledge in languages was shared nicely.

Now you slowly get new moderators but they are just as good.

Having a best moderator of the year, is like having the best spy of the year. If they do their work well, we shall never know it was done, if they fail it will be a disaster like a nuclear bomb or something.

That said, I believe they are really helpful, and keep the threads nice and clean. I recall, I used to be a moderator in a sharing and chatting Peer-to-peer platform called Direct Connect (DC), a nice hubsoft called Ptokax, we used to have loads of fun, I learnt how to code back then making nice scripts.

Moderators were more like policemen, we could ban users, kick users (temporary ban), mute (prevent users from chatting), warn users, stop them from downloading. "Ahh good ol times".

Many thanks for a great job. It was always a relief when I saw the green M on a post I knew there'd be reliable information. And it was there so often and so quickly. That's not to forget all the behind the scenes activities we know you have undertaken to make DL what it is today. Again many thanks.

I agree with Dessamator: it is not really possible to select one Moderator as the best one in DuoLingo. So judging by the good results of their efforts, I, for one, vote them collectively to be the BEST. Happy Holidays, Best Moderators of DuoLingo!

You're too kind, jackelliot. You know, we have a saying in Portugal that goes like this: "Quem corre por gosto, não cansa", which roughly means "One who runs with pleasure doesn't tire." Happy holidays for you too! "Abraço"!

Hi TagoMoita_PT, and thanks for all your good work. Excuse me if I am prying, but when you say: "... we have a saying in Portugal ...", does that mean that you are in Portugal? Are you Portuguese? Please just ignore my question if you think it's rude. I gave you a lingot a few minutes ago to tell you how much I appreciate your good work, and here is another one for you. Boas festas! abraço!

Thanks a lot for your reply. You are welcome. I used to study Italian until a while ago, went up to level 9. But I quit for two reasons: first as you know Spanish and Italian have lots of similarities and I started to confuse one for the other as I got more advanced in Italian, and second because I wanted to re-study from scratch in order to strengthen the basics. So I decided to finish the Spanish tree first, and then get back to study Italian. And then after finishing the Italian tree, I plan to move on to Portuguese and French. I have one-language-at-a-time type of mind, you know, lol; I wish I had your abilities, already fluent in English besides your mother tongue, and studying five other languages simultaneously. So Cheers and Hora to you!

Haha, thanks. Well, 4, not 5. I wouldn't count Brazilian Portuguese as a second language, despite all the differences. And besides, I'm no superman, if you wish to truly obtain fluency in Spanish, you're wise to focus all your efforts on that one. I'm not doing that because right now, I'm doing them all for fun. If I decide I want to be as fluent in, say, German as I am in English, I might have to do as you. (I might, I'm picking a second language in the near future with a translation career in mind). Cheers!

I would prefer to reward good answers and questions, not the persons, to make them noticeable in the forums. Moderators don't need lingots, good questions and good answers need them to be seen and read!
