Wales has turtles around its coast. In fact, Wales is actually the place where they found the largest leatherback sea turtle in the world.

Is there really just one word for turtle and tortoise in Welsh (as the hint suggests)?

Same in German ("Schildkröte"), and even Wikipedia says that the distinction in English between "turtle" and "tortoise" isn't scientific and "inconsistent and contradictory".

So I wouldn't worry too much about Welsh putting all chelonians into one word.

Rydw i wedi rhoi 'Dwi'n hoffi'r crwban' ac mae ddim yn gweithio? Rydw i'n sicr mae hon yn gwyir.

I wanted this to be "I like turtles" ... after the classic youtube meme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMNry4PE93Y
