A Conversational Dutch Course To Supplement Duolingo
I made a conversational Dutch course on Memrise to supplement (not replace) Duolingo. It includes most things that I think beginners should know. (Colors, numbers, introducing yourself).
The course is here: http://www.memrise.com/course/953244/conversational-dutch-for-beginners/
I'd love to get some feedback on it. I think it will pair well with Duolingo. ^_^
So, this will be the last round of corrections. (level 7, 8 and 9)
Level 7: Not a lot of errors. Just a few weird ones.
"Excuseer, wat zei u daarnet?" Should be: "Pardon, wat zei u daarnet?" of course you can also add an informal version if you like. "Kan je trager spreken?" is a weird sentence. The correct one would be: "Kan je wat langzamer praten?" Kan je dat opschrijven asljeblieft?" Has incorrect word order and a typo. Here is the corrected one: "Kan je dat alsjeblieft opschrijven?" You can remove "even" in: "Kan je dat even herhalen" "wat beteken dat?" has a typo. The correct spelling would be: "wat betekent dat?"
Level 8. Correct.
Just a small cultural note about "hebt u een bonuskaart?" This is usually said in the AH (Albert Heijn) and a select few stores only. It is not something that is used in every single store. "wilt u een bonnetje?" is not really natural. A better way to say this would be "Wilt u de bon?"
So, the last level.... Most of it is correct. I just have something to say about one or two little sentence(s).
So, the sentence(s) are: "Ik wil naar" and "Ik wil naar Amerika", These are a bit unusual but nothing big. You see, often "toe" or "toe gaan" will be placed at the end of the sentence. They roughly translate to "going to" So you get things like: "Ik wil naar Duitsland toe gaan" (I want to go to Germany), "Ik wil naar Den Haag toe" (I want to go to The Hague) etc. So essentialy the sentences I mentioned would be more natural if they were changed to: "Ik wil naar .. toe gaan" and "Ik wil naar Amerika toe"
So, That was everything. I wish you good luck with the course.
PS: Don't forget to change "Happy christmas party" to "Happy christmas"
Thank you very much. I think I've made all the corrections. I appreciate that you looked over the course. And yes, I changed Happy Christmas Party to Happy Christmas. ^_^
