  5. "Dyw Sbaen ddim yn Affrica."

"Dyw Sbaen ddim yn Affrica."

Translation:Spain is not in Africa.

February 1, 2016

There is a funny expresion we have in Spanish when we do some self-criticism comparing Spain with "Europe":

√Āfrica empieza en los Pirineos (Africa begins in the Pyrenees)

But yeah we have Ceuta, Melilla and Canary islands which are geographically in Africa

Why is it dyw? We were told that the negative of 'to be" in the third person is "dydy x dim yn y". What is "dyw" and how has it suddenly appeared? Does that mean I could say "Dyw hi dim yn gweithio" rather than "Dydy hi dim yn gweithio"? Confused

This sentence makes no sense. Unless you're dealing with some very geographically challenged people, I don't think you're ever going to need to say this.
