I'd guess this is either derived from or a cognate of "frock"?
Yep - good guess :)
So what's the word 'frog' in welsh? I know the German, polish and Spanish word already so I need this to fill in the gap :)
The first option suggested by google translate: llyffant.
You'll usually hear llyffant for "frog" up north. In the south, the word is broga. Southerners use llyffant for "toad"!
Does anybody know the reason for the double f in 'ffrog'? I was just wondering...
Like English words of and off, a single f sounds like a v, and and a double ff sounds like an f
The hard 'f' sound in English is shown in Welsh with 'ff'
eg Friend = Ffrind
Dont get it sometimes it says am right when translate ffrog as dress other times am wrong as ita a dress!
