NORWEGIAN IMMERSION!

The best thread ever to grace this forum

I'm having too much fun with this :D
There is a trick to get access to the proper immersion webpage.

1) Switch to a natively immersion supporting language (ie. German)
2) Open Duolingo in a second tab. It should have German active, as well as the "immersion" link on the top
3) Go back to the first tab and switch to Norwegian
4) Click the "immersion" link on the second tab

If you directly type in the url ( https://www.duolingo.com/translations ) while having Norwegian as the active language it will not work. The same trick can be used to access the Words functionality as well, except that one looks infinitely more buggy than immersion.

Gosh darn it this should be a sticky

That's awesome :D thanks!

yesterday it worked flawlessly but today when I try to open it this way, it automatically reloads and shows 404 page. I'm using Chrome. Anyone else encountered this today?

The articles still can be uploaded.

UPD fixed, Duo had hiccup

Still works for me.... also using chrome.

Does not work anymore. :/

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/amaratea

just checked, it does. Do you have immersion at all or you are on the wrong side of A/B?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Erven.R

Probably at the wrong side of the A/B. But I can still access the articles.

good, then the latest update was only yesterday :)

Three more articles as at 22/02:

a) French presidential election, 1981 - https://www.duolingo.com/translation/80d02114fbfecbeed73473e48bf97639

b) Danish general election, 2015 - https://www.duolingo.com/translation/5fced2869e6116a4908b686d0d236f7a

c) My Amnesia Girl - https://www.duolingo.com/translation/bcf139e85bf9cde51ac1e09f465e016b

I would suggest you get a crack on these since these EN-->NO articles are getting quite lonely. ;)

Added. Personally I think I'll stick with the NO->EN for the time being, because it's logical to assume that in EN->NO translation suggestions for words are just as flawed as in the NO->EN but any kind of weirdness is harder to pick up on and therefore it's less efficient to learn this way in the beginning. I think :)

I'm having difficulty programming immersion from NO to EN. My main DL language is learning other languages from EN.

EDITED: I was able to upload one but for some reason, any table included in the uploaded article appears to be messed up.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Adiaphor

Don't worry about tables, they are always messed up, even in languages with official immersion

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/PaoloLim

I think it is a function of DL not recognising or built for foreign language Wiki pages.

Added, thanks. Although thanks to stonesong's trick from the first comment here it's not really necessary to list NO->EN articles anymore ;)

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/amaratea

haxx haxx everywhere. I was using this post as a bookmark list mostly, but completely forgot about that handy workaround :D

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/amaratea

I have uploaded around a million files, should I list them? Or maybe it would be better to just add "See the main page of Norwegian Immersion for the full list of the documents"? I don't want people to think that the uploads and translations stopped but the list is already getting too long.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Adiaphor

No, don't list them, there's no point. I edited the post. Unless you have EN->NO articles

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Tattamin

How do I get to the "main page of Norwegian Immersion"?

ETA: Never mind, I went through the comments above and found it. It does not work for me, sadly, because none of my languages does have immersion.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/frenchlearner53

Good question. I can only access articles from people's streams right now. Including in French immersion, due to this No Immersion A/B test.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/amaratea

you can start a language just to have accesss to immersion :P listing the articles is really becoming useless now, since I alone uploaded over 40 pages, and there are other people too :D

but I think I might have an ideal, let's just decide how lazy I am to make it.

Here is an article that is completely translated from Norwegian to English (pending corrections from the rest): https://www.duolingo.com/translation/3cf5efb62793d2153661d5a2a2f99117 . Can you kindly add this to the appropriate section?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Adiaphor

Sure, added. Here you have updated list of all articles: https://www.duolingo.com/comment/14800944 so if you want your article added there too, tell amaratea :)
