DuoLingo Esperanto Book
Hello, fellow language learners! :)
I am working my way through the Esperanto tree and I thought it would be helpful to share what I've been working on: a compiled "book" of all of the lessons (including vocabulary and example sentences) and helpful comments!
I have decided to make the "book" in parts, and release each part here as I finish it. The number of parts will correspond to the "checkpoints" in the DuoLingo Tree (except for Parts 3, 4, 5, and 6 which correspond to one big bunch of lessons before a checkpoint in the tree):
- Part 1: Basics through Plurals (download here)
- Part 2: Da/De through Infinitive (download here)
- Part 3: Questions through Numbers
- Part 4: Dates/Time through Cond. Verb
- Part 5: Adverbs through Affixes 2
- Part 6: Expression through Concepts
Note: Any small edits (e.g. accent marks, spaces, etc.) will be made in the final compiled book of all six parts (which I will make once all six parts are complete). Larger changes (e.g. grammar) can be made as soon as they are pointed out. If you see any changes that need to be made, please feel free to let me know! :)
- 2/10/16: Part 1 is complete!
- 2/13/16: Made some edits to Part 1 and re-uploaded it! Almost finished with Part 2 (three topics to go!).
- 2/17/16: Part 2 is complete! This marks how much I have gotten through in the Esperanto tree thus far. I will start working on Part 3 soon!
That's an extremely well made book, very professional looking and super helpful! Now I don't have to open up skills every time to be able to read the notes. Thank you so much for creating and sharing it with us!
Thank you so much! :D I made the front and back "covers" in Photoshop and got the graphics from Google. I'm super happy to help! You're very welcome! :)
Oh my goodness that is absolutely beautiful and so so helpful!! Thank you so much for sharing that with us, that is so thoughtful. I really hope you will be continuing this project as it is a wonderful and well made resource! I will be subscribing to this post :) please have some lingots as a thank you xx
Aw gosh, thank you! :D I gave you some lingots too! I will definitely be continuing this project and finishing it! The course tree is long, but my goal is to finish it between the end of February - early March. I'll post download links to the rest of the parts as I finish them! :)
Part 1 of the book is very well made. I wish it was available earlier when I started.
Not gonna' lie, I thought this was going to be a link to a Childrens/Intermediate Esperanto book. Still nice though! Thanks!
I actually love this! I just want to make sure it is accurate! Sorry for the edits.
Thank you very much for your feedback! I appreciate it! :) Feel free to let me know about anything else you find!
Great work creambun. However the 'files don't exist...' in the links (I missed the opportunity).
Have you progressed after part2?
Awesome work! Can I use this for a physical Esperanto class I'm teaching?
Oh wow! that's amazing. thank you so much for sharing it with everyone! :D
Thank you! And you're very welcome! We're all learning together after all :)
Knabino dancas rapide. => "A girl dances quickly." not "The girl dances quickly [or fast]."
"The" implies "la".
Another quick edit:
Page 16: Bonan nokton, gis la revido! => Bonan nokton, gxis la revido!
Page 17: Viro kisas belan virinon. (A man kisses the beautiful woman.) Belan virinon kisas viro. (A man kisses the beautiful woman.)
Viro kisas la belan virinon. (A man kisses the beautiful woman.) La belan virinon kisas viro. (A man kisses the beautiful woman.)
As others have said--beautiful job. Do I understand correctly that you're planning to compile all the parts into one file when you're finished? In any case, thanks for all your work!
Thank you! :) Yes, you are correct! I will share the full compiled project once all six parts are finished. :)
The vocabulary section doesn't feel as consistent since you stopped using "(plural, accusative)" after -oj and -n ending words. The other Lessons follow this format.
La knabino estas granda, ĉar ŝimanĝas multe. => La knabino estas granda, ĉar ŝi manĝas multe. [missing space]
La esperantistoj legas vortarojn enkafejo. => La esperantistoj legas vortarojn en kafejo.[missing space]
La du gepatroj estas la patro kaj lapatrino. => La du gepatroj estas la patro kaj la patrino. [missing space]
Mi havas kvar tagojn, sed mirapide lernas. => Mi havas kvar tagojn, sed mi rapide lernas. [missing space]
I just finished the first part of Esperanto thanks to your excellent book. I am ready to start the second part and would love to use your book again. Do you know when you might have that part ready? It really is a fantastic help!
Wonderful! :D Part 2 is ready, I am actually uploading it right now! The link to download it should be available shortly! :)
