According to SpanishDict.com, la estacĂon = division of the year (Winter, Spring, etc) and la temporada = a seasonal event (sport, planting).

I just took 10 lessons on time and Duolingo didn't ask about fall once. Why does Duolingo only recognize spring summer and winter?

GRRR! They just used a word for season, and now want to use a totally different word for it. There is no explanation. Nothing. This is more bad teaching. -----------------But it's better than nada. My heading is swimming.
