Finished my 2nd tree: French!
152 days ago, I completed Basics 1 of my French tree. Now, for me, it wasn’t the hardest thing to do, as my dad is French, and I am at a fairly high level in spoken French. However, I had never needed to write in French, so my spelling and written grammar were terrible. So, I decided to take the Duolingo course. I took some breaks, (which is why it took me 150 days), and finished my Swedish tree, as well as completed over half of my German tree in that time. However, I can now safely say that I am much more competent in French than I was before.
I am not going to write this in French (as it is sunny in the UK, and I would like to enjoy what little sunshine we get), but I will update this with a French translation. I would like to say a massive, massive thank you to everyone at Duolingo, and to the fabulous people who made the course.
2 lessons per day
About 17000 XP
Predicted time for completion: 177 days (This is based on a spreadsheet that I made)
Progress Quiz score: 3.21
CEFR: (It’s still sunny!)
Next tree: Danish
Danish is a beautifully weird language that I cannot wait to learn. I am already at a high proficiency in Swedish, and wish to be able to be at the same level in the weird and whacky language of Danish. Wish me luck!
Some of you will notice that the French trophy is not in my profile picture. I am working on a new profile picture that has both the Swedish and French trophies combined.
Jeez, you guys have multiple language trees going on. I thought I was awesome for keeping up a 2 week streak. Nearly up to 1000XP
You're too kind! How close are you to finishing your German tree?
Turn that frown upside down! Oh, and get rid of the "only." You make yourself sound like it is shameful that you are halfway. I finished the French tree on level 21! Be proud of your progress, as it is more than that of many other people!
To be honest, and as I said, I can already *speak French! I will just strengthen skills, but am not planning on learning new vocabulary. I would rather develop my skills in other languages!
After reaching a certain checkpoint in my french tree, I'm thinking about purchasing some games with french subs/dubs. You might want to continue there.
Good job! I'm just starting on Duolingo, but I am taking a French 101 course at my high school. I'm just a freshman. It's easy to learn. I'm part French and my aunt learned it, so I'm learning for her!
Cool! Congratulations! You have a lot of trees, so keep on doing your best. Oh and also, have 9 lingots.
