I'd love to know when someone gives me Lingots! Even if I don't know who gave them, though that would be great too.

I agree with this! We'll add this.

Just keep in mind how much this will interfere people like Sitesurf and rspreng who answer a lot of questions (via notification) and could care less about lingots...

Ho about making it a feature that you could turn on or off?

I agree. I'd rather have just an aggregate number.

I also agree. It annoys me when I have 5 or more notifications and can't tell if I missed someone's reply/question/whatever. With the current notification system, I would be against this unless it was optional.

This is a good point. I gave someone a lingot today as a thank you for a helpful answer, but that person doesn't need any help.

I was looking at a comment I left 7 months ago and was startled to see someone had rewarded me a lingot. I was surprised that I never received a notification for this, which prompted me to find this thread. I am saddened that what few lingots I have given out for thoughtful, explanatory comments may have had little effect.

Any updates on this idea?

Agreed. If you aren't constantly going back and checking your comments, you won't ever know that what you wrote was appreciated in that manner. I've given a few lingots because I want to encourage those people with their great responses to keep writing more!

Definitely agree. It needs a notification warning, because otherwise, you have to search through all your comments to understand what got you the lingots

Your right ;-) In German we have the expression "Es hat den Trick zerrissen", which literately means the trick got burst.

It was just a little joke :-)

PS: I got one ligot :-)

I think this would be really useful ☺ Hey the you could even thank the person who gave you the lingot! ;)

I have a related question: when you give somebody lingots, does that come out of your own count of lingots, or can you just give away as many as you want?

https://www.duolingo.com/kcheng0222

Cause then people would just make 2 accounts and spam lingot giving back and forth.

They come from your own collection. I wonder what happens if you try to give one and you don't have any yourself.

Disagree. If a person received 20 lingots from 20 people, than he'll have 20 notifications of him receiving them, not taking him getting more lingots from another comment/post into count.

I'd rather see something related to language learning than all this "social crap"...

But the community aspect is important. It's also entirely optional.

Yes because that's definitely going to help us learn languages more efficiently -__-
