Language Related New Years Resolutions?

What are your resolutions for the new year in regards to languages? I think it would be cool to state your current levels and where you hope to be by the end of 2014 :)

I'm not a big fan of New Year's resolutions because there is a good chance that you won't meet them and when that happens, there is also a good chance that you will beat yourself up about it.

So I'll just say this. I plan to continue to study German. I don't know how far I will get, but I will be farther than I am today.

I am going to do my very best to learn German to its full extent. I think it would be very cool if the Duolingo Staff increased the max level and added even more skills for the trees. I'm Level 11 at the moment and I know i will still be motivated to keep learning.

Oh! Cool, I love NY's resolutions! :D Let's see. I'm level 14 German. By the end of 2014, I expect to be already in level 25 and with the tree and Harry Potter I (Und der Stein der Weisen) finished. I don't know about my next target language...I'm taking french right now, but only to review it once in a while, because I'm focusing in German. And I like French a lot, but, with the incubator fully out, with many new languages like Korean, Polish, Dothraki, Quenya, Japanese, Russian, etc...Well, I'm afraid that, maybe my next target language changes. (I'm talking about French).

My resolution, as I stated in the t-shirt contest when the Second Gift was released ( http://www.duolingo.com/comment/1282649 ) is this:

I keep a monthly blog about books I'm reading; by the end of February 2014 I plan on having my entire blog translated into Spanish. I would then like to write at least one blog post initially in Spanish based on a Spanish-language book I will have read. In July of 2014 I have planned a three-week immersion trip to Mexico, where I intend to speak absolutely no English for the duration of my stay. Before the 2014-2015 school year starts, I plan on taking the test to receive my English/Spanish bilingual teaching endorsement. After having achieved that, I plan on maintaining my use of the language through daily interactions with my students while beginning the process anew for Vietnamese (or Chinese, if no Duolingo Vietnamese course is available yet).

Within Duolingo, this means completing my Spanish language tree by early January [I'm now nine lessons away and fairly certain I'll be done by the end of 2013], getting up to level 25 in Spanish and completing my reverse tree before July, possibly trying out either Spanish to Portuguese or Spanish to French as a means of practicing my Spanish. By the end of 2014 I expect to be about halfway through my language tree in either Vietnamese or Chinese (most likely Chinese, as there is still no Vietnamese course in the incubator).

This is better. That was only a 24-hour contest. This opens it up for people who may not have caught that 24-hour window.

Well, for the t-shirt contest, I was going to write to finish my tree, but at the time of that contest, I was way too far from finishing the tree so I decided to forget it and wrote a lame resolution.

After a while, I realised I was slowly progressing and I was really motivated and I started working really hard, and by Christmas eve/day I finished it. So, that is/was my official new years resolution.

Thanks. I think that's it's quite achievable. 25 is the highest level.

I think it is easily achievable if you stay at it and practice at least once a day. But trust me, I convinced my friends to make an account and after a week of trying to learn Italian they just gave up. Sometimes it's hard for people =/

I'm going to finish my Italian tree and I'll take an Italian course. Duolingo is the best one at teaching Italian basics and its grammar, but my conversational skills can only be improved by talking to people. I want to be fluent in Italian by the end of 2014 (or at least, be able to hold a decent coversation), and I'm sure that I will :D

I'm level 9 Italian and level 6 German. My goal is to have reached level 25 in both languages by the end of 2014, and have started English-Russian if it is available this next year.

I'm on level 8, and hope to finish the tree/reach lvl 25 in 2014.

Honestly though, I'm not that focused on my duolingo level. I prefer to try to incorporate italian into my life more... cooking in italian, knitting in it, speaking it, thinking in it... Hopefully I will be able to visit italy in 2014 (again) and be rewarded for my effort :)

Learn and practice every day. Don't slack on pronunciation.

I also want to be able to read books and watch films in French by the end of 2014.
