Despite your sentence is grammatically correct, in everyday speech I'd say: hoy escogí irme caminando a mi trabajo, no me quedó de otra. :0)

thanks but I checked with my peruvian native speaker female friend, and she gave it the ok. Maybe when I am more advanced I will be able to say it like you. I don't recognize a few words in your sentence, so it would have been impossible for me to say it that way. Thanks for the heads up.

I wouldn't say exactly like this, but what I would say is closest to CR's than to PA's. I'd say Elegí caminar a mi trabajo hoy. En serio, no tenía otra opción., though I'm not very sure I'd use elegir, it doesn't sound like a desition, but more like he did it because he had to.
