Suggestion: Pause during timed practice

When I practice with a timer, I often open the discussion page for varying reasons. But then the time runs out faster. Even worse, when the time runs out while I check the discussion page, the page vanishes! I have two solutions to this:

•pause the time while the discussion page is opened
•leave the discussion page visible when the time runs out

One of those two would be nice, I think. The latter is not necessary if the former gets fixed.
