Lack of "Give Lingot" option for a discussion starter

It may be by design, but it seems a little unfair that someone who starts a really interesting or informative discussion cannot be rewarded with a Lingot. All followup contributors have a "Give Lingot" option but this is missing for the discussion originator.

Has the feature been added for some? I don't see the "Give a Lingot" option for the discussion starter....

I've been giving them when they post again. If they don't it probably wasn't a great discussion in the first place. But it should still be an option just for ease of use.

For now, post a comment on your own thread and have people give lingots for that!

Maybe because originally the discussion starter was meant to be a member of their staff? Either way it seems quite odd I hope they implement it soon. Thanks for bringing this up.

Thanks! Up until now I have resisted posting to my own discussion in case it was misconstrued as simply a way of getting lingots. Now the discussion is redundant it doesn't really merit any so please let me give you your lingot back.

Giving it back because I think it was important for the community to have this function and not just a personal grab.

I worry that allowing this will start a mas influx of 'Pleeeeeeeeeeeease give me some lingots' discussions. If its a good discussion, the original poster usually comments in the thread anyway, and lingots can be given there.

The same could be said about the ability to give lingots in the first place. There hasn't been a flood of "give me some lingots" comments, has there?

I'm not sure. I still get notifications from the original thread where giving lingots were introduced, and as of yesterday, someone else was asking for lingots there. I can see someone posting, "I want to take the Certification test, will someone help me out" or "I really want to learn flirting, will someone give me lingots".
I'd just rather not give the opportunity.
