Skill strengthening issues (Spanish)

When I click 'strengthen skills' in the Spanish course it works fine the first time. The second time I get the exact same questions again. I've tried to do the strengthening 4 times in a row and even the fifth time it will ask the exact same things, eventhough I made very little mistakes.

To work around this I decided to strenghten specific subjects, by clicking on them and strenghtening that subject. However, certain subjects had only 3 bars left, so they had to be strengthened twice. The first time, again, it works fine. The second time it will ask the same things as it did the first time, thus making it impossible to fully strengthen a subject.

I hope i've been clear about this issue. Thank you in advance duolingo, for taking a look at this and thank you for the great course you provide!

I think the best things to do, to attract staff's attention about the fact it's a widely spread bug and that many users would like to have it looked at, is that each of us write one Bug Report to staff about it.

I'd say that having all the same bug report's subject (something like the title of this discussion "Skill strengthening issues" seems perfect) but each one writing herself/himself the body of the report (and add hi own screenshot if there are) would attract staff attention.

Duo does use those reports but receiving a lot they (don't answer directly to them and) prioritize them according to "how bad is the issue" and to "how many users report it".

I did it now several times. I assume the report did not reach the developers, as I did not receive any confirmation. I only got redirected to the same page or a page with FAQ...

Yes it did and this with sump up with the reports about the same thing by other users and if it's one of the most reported bugs they'll investigate it in priority.


I did it now several times.

Note that one time per user is enough => they very likely consider only one report about a given bug per user to avoid one single user making his specific issue (N.B.: not saying it's the case here ;)) going up the priority list.
What is important is that a maximum of users report the same bug.

Thanks for the reply. I did not intent to send multiple reports, I repeated it just because I thought that it did not leave my computer. I am used to get a confirmation. If I report a mistake, I get a conformation too.

It would be great if instead of the redirect a confirmation message (success message) tells me that my report was sent.

hi there. I added your description of the problem to our report for the Spanish for German speakers course that we've written some weeks ago because you explained the problem of our German for Spanish speakers course pretty well. We experience this issue for a while, but received no feedback so far. I'm sorry to see that this is now happening in other courses probably, too. I hope there will be found a way to fix this someday :). I hope that the effected course will also pay attention to this because I am not sure whether (if it can/will be fixed) that it will be fixed for all courses at the same time. It's rather likely I guess that it will be fixed individually for every course.

It's a programming issue--as shown by replication in different courses--so all courses should be fixed simultaneously. Hopefully the staff will soon notice this is a widespread problem.

Same for me for the Portuguese tree. I got the same questions (more or less were the same words) two times. Checking on "Words" it showed them with full strength. After the second time I got new tasks, then again the same... After some tome like this I get the first session of the day again. I stop now and will try to strenghten another language now...

Sometimes, the issue will clear up the next day, and before I could fix this by using the untimed practice, but today I got the same questions even with untimed practice (Norwegian for English speakers, but I've had it for other languages as well).

I too am repeating lessons /strengthening skills in the English / German course and not progressing. If that is going to be the case little point in continuing, as my boredom tolerance level has been reached.

I suggest you fill a "Bug Report" form (with as much details as you can, cf. text in this form). If everyone does it, they'll have a look to this bug far faster than if only few does. In fact, if only few does report through the form the they'll probably not investigate this bug before months/years since they'll not be aware that it's a bug impacting a huge proportion of users.

Same thing happens with me in the French section. Not sure why, but just reporting here that it also happens with me. It may be that the skill just needs to be done repeatedly over and over again to strengthen it correctly (due to it having a lot in it) or just a pesky bug. Not sure! After about a day however I am able to strengthen the skill (sometimes two days).
