Youtube Cooperation: Translating Subtitles

It would be really great if Luis and the Duo-birds would team up with Youtube or Vimeo so that we could start translating subtitles of videos.

This would make Immersion quite a lot more vivid and fun. Conversations in movies mimic dialogues so realistically! Google has quite a solid cash-flow to pay for this service: their videos would become more relevant.

Just don't sell Duo to Google - it should stay a social enterprise and true to its mission of providing free language education. Stay wise owl, you are a free bird.

That would be cool, I can watch my favorite clips there without using the translation on youtube that they detect based on sound.

Anything would be better than some of the automatic subtitles I've seen... They can be scary bad.

Or, as transcribed by automatic subtitles:

"knee fig we old bee butter done assume upped old omaha tick subtle idol eye scene... vacant bees score body."

I dunno. If you just hear the sounds of the words . . . a little bit of work and you can submit that to "The Sun". 'Subtle Idol" almost has enough heft all on its own.

Subtle idol, subtle idol

We knee(l)

Don’t assume we’ll be better

Untold onomatopoeic

Breaking News from The Sun:

A member of the cult "Duolingo" has said:

"We kneel to a subtle idol, we better have donated our vacant bodies to bees."

In other news, this member was a talking Polar Bear named Norton.

Even better! I was talking about "The Sun Magazine". This is one of their self-describing sentences under the heading "About THE SUN".

The Sun is an independent, ad-free monthly magazine that for nearly forty years has used words and photographs to invoke the splendor and heartache of being human.
