Suggestions Box + Lingots

I think one of the shortcomings of the current Duo design is that there isn't anywhere for people to see suggestions, pending enhancements, and so on. Either there's no info or it's mashed together with all the other discussions.

So, here's my idea: as others have stated, we should have a suggestions box that lists possible enhancements, suggestions, etc. One thread for each enhancement. But here's the twist: users should be able to vote for their favorites using any number of lingots! Ideas with more lingots float to the top. This gives quantitative feedback to the Duo team, improves user participation, provides a meaningful currency sink, and it'd clean up the Discussion section. It's better than just using upvotes, because upvotes aren't commodities and they don't scale.

Let's make this happen!

Accepting tips here ;)

Some nuances I think may be useful:

  • You should be able to vote for the idea directly in addition to giving lingots in the associated thread.
  • The direct-vote lingots should be worth more points (in the rankings), but maybe they should be discounted so that the OP doesn't receive all of them. This would create a better sink.
  • In-thread lingot gifts should count toward the ranking, but at a discounted rate.
  • There should be some sort of automatic search that reduces the number of duplicates.

I think a linear correlation between number of lingots given and number of lingots recieved by the suggestion would put too much voting power in the hands of those with the most languge experience, staff members, and popular forum posters. Instead, the law of diminishing returns should be applied to how many effective votes go through based on lingots given.

For example: 1 Lingot = 1 vote 2 Lingots = 2 votes 4 Lingots = 3 votes 8 Lingots = 4 votes ... And so on. This way, common users without so much time on their hands have a more significant impact.

Completely in favour of this suggestion, but with this correction, as otherwise, it will only be about the opinion of the people who farm lingots. I for one, have no lingots left, after a one month trip where I spent a few streak freezes and after having bought the bonus lessons
