Why not erste Beiden?

Going through my notes (not a native speaker) from wiki....weak declension is used when there is a preceding definite article ("der" word). I believe "die Beiden" is plural...so using my handy chart here, all endings for plural (regardless of case) are "-en". So ersten is right. Maybe wait for confirmation from a native speaker though.

Ahh, that makes sense. I was thinking "two" and thought feminine rather than thinking "die Beiden" which is plural. Thanks.
