Why can't this be "Il mange un crepe simple"?

I also entered "il mange un crêpe simple". What gives?

I looked up 'bete' in the dictionary and it only lists stupid or silly as the definition... Does 'bete' mean 'simple' in the sense that you might say someone is simple if they're not very bright? But in that case I'm not sure how it would apply to crepes. Can anyone help?

It should be 'une crêpe simple,' I don't think bete should be used to refer to bread, it's supposed to refer to something silly, idiotic, stupid, foolish, etc
