Croeso first confused me because of the spelling, for in my mother tongue, which is German, 'oe' becomes often 'ö', so I always think of it as 'Kröso' when I read it, but it sounds very different. But then I realized- ahhh!! The 'e' is spoken as 'ee' in English (as a letter itself and in a couple of words), other in German where it is more of an 'a' sound (as in Jane for instance). So now the spelling makes much more sense to me. :) So I guess, the Welsh pretty much adapted the spelling from the English language and applied it to Welsh. Having this is mind, the pronunciation makes much more sense now and seems way easier already. :)

(While the looks of the spelling is rather nordic, for instance 'w' being a spoken 'u', which is similar to Nordic languages like Danish where for example. The influence of Old Norse, right? =D God, I love the wonderful world of languages.)
