Hello! I was wondering if anyone knew some good websites to be supplemental to Duo. I'm about to start using the Complete Dutch book from Teach Yourself, but I'd also like some extra online resources. Every website I come across doesn't seem to be the best.

Bedankt!

hairai already mentioned it, but I'm going to also really recommend http://www.dutchgrammar.com/ . It covers practically everything.

You can also read/use the Dutch version of the site once you're more advanced with Dutch http://www.dutchgrammar.com/nl/index.php . I find using the Dutch version is really good practice.

If you're looking for authentic texts to support your reading and listening comprehension, try the 'Youth Journal' at http://jeugdjournaal.nl The news articles are pitched at children/teenagers and are accompanied by videos. Highly recommended.

I use a text to speech plugin (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/google-text-to-speech/) to hear the dutch pronounciation for texts on websites like nu.nl.

A google search on "learning Dutch" will lead you to a lot of youtube lessons.

A largely Dutch tagcloud! Click on words to see great photos taken mostly in Holland. New photos every day since the mid 1990s: http://schlijper.nl/tagcloud/

Nice, I never considered this way of learning before I saw your link. I like wegslepen and wegenbelastingvrij, but was a bit disappointed by pet (I was looking forward to a collection of hats…).

Glad you like, and thanks for those new words! It probably would have been a long time before I learned wegenbelastingvrij. ;)

I like to learn with the podcast "Laura speaks Dutch" http://www.lauraspeaksdutch.info/ It's very helpful to dive into the language spoken by a native speaker. I also teaches about habits and typical Dutch stuff, which I miss a bit on DL.

I highly recommend www.readlang.com. With readlang you can read the content that you like, for instance newspapers such as www.volkskrant.nl, www.nrc.nl, and news sites such as www.nu.nl and www.nos.nl.
