Hello, I need your help mes amis!

So.. As you know, it is difficult to learn to hear spoken french. I am learning french since the beginning of 2016 (3 months). I haven't completed Duolingo french three yet because I am moving slow so I pick everything up correctly. I have difficulties with spoken french and I know that I have to speak with french people, listen to french resources(songs, radio,tv, etc). But I only understand 30%-40% of what is said...

I recently did something that I haven't tried: I listened to a song I hadn't heard, one time. I looked up for lyrics of this song and listened to it again, but this time with lyrics(It was easy to hear and understand words I already knew because of the lyrics) *I translated the song(The words I didn't know) and then listened to this song without lyrics.

After I had done it, it is now very easy to understand this song... BUT my question here on Duolingo is DOES IT HELP ME LEARN TO HEAR SPOKEN FRENCH?

Merci :))

Weeks ago I was given this useful site link to listen and read at the same time a given text. https://www.wordproject.org/bibles/fr/index.htm If anyone knows similar sites which give the text and the corresponding audio I shall welcome the links. Studious regards, ;-)

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I live in a bi-lingual community in Canada, my girlfriend speaks and works in french. My actual learning of the language is slow, but improving steadily. My take is the more exposure to the language, including listening to spoken french, the better. It all helps. De rien, mon ami

I hadn't thought about that and after reading that I don't think so.

But maybe yes, If you look at the lyrics and you make your brain connect the sounds(words) with the pronunciation it should do something :D

Hi,

In reply to the request for more sites on spoken french with transcripts I would like to add http://savoirs.rfi.fr/fr/apprendre-enseigner/langue-francaise/journal-en-francais-facile this is the daily news in easy french (easy as in a pretty high level already, but it sure helps to read along and by listening to it one is sure to get an understanding of the most recent use of the french language. Bon courage!
