If you're an actor you might say 'I don't do movies, I work in theatre, darling!'

Is there a reason why 'I work in theatre' (as in the theatre industry) is incorrect? I thought that 'theatr' meant either 'theatre' or 'a theatre'...

'I work in a theatre as a box office clerk/stage manager/cleaner...' ' I work in theatre' = I'm an actor

Is Welsh like English, using the same word both for the place actors perform, and for the place where surgeons do operations?

For checking the range of usage of words, have a look in, say, geiriaduracademi.org (authoritative and comprehensive, English to Welsh only) or termau.cymru (standardised specialist terms in various fields). Remember to use British English spellings (eg, 'theatre' rather than 'theater').

Brilliant, thanks. Yes, I am British, so I would naturally use British spellings.
