I prefer to use the King James Version myself, but the language is sometimes archaic and hard to understand. If that doesn't matter to you, that's what I'd use. But if it does, I would probably try the New King James Version.

I'd definitely get a bilingual edition of whatever you choose. That way you don't have to access a dictionary as much. That's what I do for Spanish and French. That, and the free Bible ap for iphones is great for listening to audio Bible, with a choice of many versions available. It's extremely popular. I listen to French that way when I go on walks.

That reminds me, you can also download e-Sword, which lets you compare different versions (either in the same language or different languages) side-by-side, and is also a very useful reference in general.

I take it that you're learning English and are looking for an easy translation to read? If so, I would recommend the New International Version (NIV) or the New International Readers Version(NIrV). The NIV is easier to read than many other translations, and the NIrV is translated specifically for people who do not speak English as their first language.

I think it's great that they have so many versions available like that now. The Good News translation is great for learning, too, as they keep the language simple.

Well, in that case, I'll give you my top three translations. New International Version (NIV), New American Standard Bible (NASB), and the English Standard Version (ESV). Any of those are good. Personally, I find the NIV easiest to read and comprehend. The NASB and the ESV are more word for word translations, so sometimes the composition of the sentences can be a little difficult to understand, but they are still very good.

Because the story of the Bible was in other languages at the base. Then people decided to translate. But sometimes the translations have some differences. These differences do not change the message but just a few words. It's a bit like when we translated a song, the message is the same, but often there are some words that are varied depending on the translation. Ex: "Life is good" can become "existence is pleasant" Sometimes it is interesting to see the differences when we try to understand a passage. Does that answer your question?

I recommend biblegateway.com if you want to use internet. There are tons of different versions, also in different languages. That's what our religion teacher told us to use and I think it's good ^_^

Hi, Why not choose the "New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures" published by the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society? From the same publisher, you can get full or partial translations in 120 languages for free. You have only to visit jw.org – and read directly online if you want. YP1
