The TTS does a terrible job here; it definitely sounds like she's saying Yn not Yr

Is there an abbreviation for 'The United States of America" in Welsh? For instance, in Spanish it's 'EE. UU.' if I remember correctly.

Why do we need the "yr" there. Doesn't the genitive structure make it implicitly definite? "(the) united states (of) America"?

My mistake! (Sometimes I make them ;D) Can you report it, please?

(And you're right - either Unol Daleithiau America or Yr Unol Daleithiau)

Good point.

Wikipedia ( https://cy.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unol_Daleithiau_America ) uses it without the yr -- though yr Unol Daleithiau for "the United States" when there is no America to make it definite.

Right; that makes sense to me.

Could you just use 'America' rather than the full 'Yr Unol Daleithiau America'?

Those are not the same thing!
