Would it ever be possible to have languages such as Chinese? or perhaps even Indian and Arabic in the future? Would be great, considering their prominence in terms of number of speakers.

It's in the works ( http://incubator.duolingo.com/courses/en/zh-CN/status ). Once they've worked out the bugs in Chinese --> English I'm sure they'll create the course going the other direction. Personally I really want Vietnamese, but I'll settle for Chinese, and I really hope it's ready by August.

I really hope Mandarin comes soon also. I also want Russian, Arabic, Dutch, Swedish, and Romanian to come soon.

I hope so, at the moment I am using other methods for learning Mandarin. I have a feeling it will definitely come, I just don't know when.
