Why doesn't Esperanto have a Fluency rate? Also, it doesn't have the flashcards.

This is because Esperanto is still in its Beta phase. All Beta phase courses do not provide the fluency rate (which is not very meaningful by the way) or the flashcards.

N.B.: Flashcards/"Words" tab is available during beta for courses that have this option (cf. German for French course which is in beta phase but has the option).

Hi Senor_Leo ,

The flashcards (= "Words tab") is only available for courses teaching EN, ES, IT, FR, PT or DE. This is due to the fact that those courses doesn't work exactly on the same system (differences are few ones) than the others: less flexible while creating the course in the incub. but the counterpart is that it allows few automatic things (like flashcards and conjugation) that other courses don't have yet.

I think all courses should have one. I guess I just have to get a notebook to write the words. The Words tab is really helpful since the problem in learning languages is forgetting the word itself, and then the grammar.

Yes but without a list you spend a heck of a long time bouncing between platforms and programmes, a real pain in a tablet.

Never use paper to memorize words. Use anki or memrise. (Anki is vastly more efficient)

I suggest Memrise as well. There is a deck called "Duolingo Esperanto" which contains all of the words you learn in the course. I've been using it and it has been very helpful.

I assume Words tab is not available to everybody. I activated fr and es courses and still don't see that tab. Is that normal?

This is temporary: Duolingo is evaluating this function through an A/B test.

So if they deem not useful, can they remove it altogether? That would make it permanent for me ;)

If it's just "not useful" they may just not develop it anymore (or delete it).
If it's "damaging" for users' learning process they'll probably delete it for everyone.
