Ho finito il mio albero di Italiano! Grazie Duo!
Ho finalmente finito il mio albero di Italiano e voglio dire grazie mille a tutte le persone che hanno creato Duolingo e con questo ci hanno dato la possibilità di imparare molte lengue nuove gratuitamente. Duolingo è grandioso! Voi siete grandiosi!
I am by no means fluent yet and often scatter my Italian with some Spanish words and suffixes. So there is still a lot of practice I will need to do. I want to watch some Italian movies, read some books, make my tree golden, review all those tenses... Tenses are the thing I am still stuggling with. There are already many people who have already suggested this and I would totally agree that Duolingo could improve the explanations when it comes to grammar. Even if there are many other language-learning-sites on the internet it would be great to have an overview of all the conjugations, possessive pronouns, etc. here on this page too.
Anyway, I was already able to use my "language skills". Some weeks ago, there were some immigrants at my local train station here in Germany who were only able to speak serbian, a little bit of english and a little bit of italian. I was able to explain them in some english-italian gibberish that the train was cancelled and we started chatting about where they came from and where they were going. It is such a unique feeling to be able to use a new language intuitively and speak to people in a language you have never used before. I think that, at least at the beginning, it is quite delightful to talk to people in your new language who are not 100% fluent in that language either. It takes away some of the awkwardness as neither of you will talk perfectly but you both have approximately the same limited vocabulary.
Initially, I started Italian because of a school trip to Florence next September. I am really looking forward to it and hope that my Italian will constantly become better until then so I'll be able to talk to the waiters at the restaurants, to the guide in the art museum and every other person we'll meet there.
To everyone else still working on their tree: Keep going! It is worth it!
Complementi! I really enjoyed your story at the train station. You will love Firenze and find out quickly that your comprehension will develop quickly while in Italy. In bocca a lupo.
It is an old expression that means Good Luck. In the mouth of the wolf. I believe it;s origin is based on the old Roman tale of the wolf nursing Romulus and Remus.
And you reply with "Crepi (il lupo)". My favorite idiom so far in Italian, duo should teach it.
"In bocca al lupo" significa buona fortuna. Se qualcuno te lo dice rispondigli "in culo alla balena" oppure "crepi"
Anche io ho finito il mio albero italiano! Non parlo ancora bene ma capisco gia un poco.
Congratulazioni! ^^ Gia hai letto un libro italiano che puoi raccomandare? Il solo libro italiano che consco è la "Divina Comedia" ma no voglio leggere questo libro perche è troppo dificile...
