French tree completed
Bonjour à tous! Finally I finished my French tree. It took me about three months and I am happy to be with this community. When I joined, I was a complete beginner, thanks to Duo now I am not. Also I am now doing the reverse tree, I believe Duo will make me speak French fluently one day. :) I want to thank all the people who have taken time out of their schedules to help the others. You guys rock! Merci!
Félicitations! J'espère que vous vous avancerez en l'étude du français, et un jour vous parlerez comme un locuteur natif!
Merci beaucoup, cela est mon souhait... et au fait ton français est vraiment bon :)
Congratulations. You make me feel like a slacker. My streak is only 4 days less than yours, and I'm not half-way through my tree.
Here, have a Lingot. I grew it on my tree.
Thank you :) but you know 2 levels are not a big way, you will finish it soon.
Félicitations ! :D I finished the tree a while ago and I definitely recommend the reverse tree :)
Congratulations! Don't forget that one day you'll have to use other sources to improve your French though!
That's a good idea, I will do that too but before I want to be more conforable with making sentences, it's still challenging for me :)
You will NEVER reach the point where you're comfortable with written French and then automatically be good at spoken French. When you try to speak the language it's almost like you lose access to most of what you've learned and you need to relearn it. It's because your brain forms connections between what you learned and how you learned it. When you're speaking you're suddenly in a new environment.
You would think that with me having gotten to over 30k XP I would be really good at speaking French. Breaking News: I'm not. I've gotten better at reading sentences but actually understanding spoken French and speaking it are completely different things.
You said you completed the tree. That's more than good enough for you to get started on italki. I hear so much talk here of "keeping the tree golden", which is a waste of time. It won't help at all. Actually speaking it and using it will help you far more and WAY faster.
How far through the tree do you recommend one should get before contacting iTalki?
Bon travail , si vous commencez une des langues romanes , il devrait être facile . Aussi quelque chose comme allemand qui est proche de l'anglais. Je suis presque fini avec le français, et je prends Italin et allemand . Encore une fois , le bon travail , et bonne chance! ( Good work, if you start one of the Romance languages , it should be easy . So something like German that is close to English. I'm almost finished with the French , and I take Italin and German. Again, good work and good luck !)
Merci and good luck with your learning, too. Your French sounds really good :)
Congrats, and instead of doing the reverse tree, you should learn another language as a french speaker :-)
Thank you :) Actually I though of that, but I am still a beginner and that will be a bit challenging for me, but I will do this in the future, merci
I just learned french in January, and haven't totally completed the french tree yet. I'm doing Spanish as a french speaker now. You will be fine.
Whoa you gave me courage indeed :) don't you mix the vocabulary of both languages when you make a sentence out of the site.
I do. Sometimes I write sentences like "the chemise es rojo," a mixture of English, Spanish, and French, but it's no big deal.
If you're asking whether sometimes I think words like rojo is french, then no. The adverbs do get confusing since they're so similar, mainly because they're similar to English.
Sometimes I read a sentence and it took me a few second to figure out which language that is, but again it's no big deal. It helps me strengthening my french a lot. So it's worth it.
You are right, maybe at the beginning everything will be mixed but yeah who cares, we are learning and one day it will be okay and the good part is this is fun :)
Hi thanks :) reverse tree is doing the exercises in another language with the language you just learnt, for example if you are doing French in English, after finishing it you can take English as a French speaker or you can learn another language in French.
OH! ..Cool. I started that yesterday, as well. Pendant un moment, je pensais que je perdais tous les progrès que j'ai gagné dans mes cours originaux! I panicked!
Thanks and keep up the good work!
Would like to join everyone in saying well done. Good luck with the reverse tree and of course forward to fluency.
