Microphone inoperative in DuoLingo with Firefox ver 26.0
As best as I can figure out, folks using Firefox ver 26.0 on Macintosh (at least on OS 10.6.8 and Flash Player ver 11.9.900.170) are out of luck when trying to use a microphone for DuoLingo. I've done extensive discussion searches within DuoLingo and elsewhere and there is no apparent solution for Firefox. It's not related to permissions. The microphone works just fine in Safari, which seems to point to a problem directly with Firefox as opposed to some random setting somewhere in the OS or with Flash Player. If somebody smarter than me figures this out, please let me know. I reported the problem to Mozilla.
The forums here are just too cumbersome. If I want to read a thread then go back to my filtered list, it's gone and I have to re-filter and then lose my place in the discussions.
I had assumed you could open links in a new tab. I'm not the most tech savvy when it comes to knowing how to work with multiple platforms. I only know how to work with mine.
Here are the instructions. EDIT: your editing window might look a little different than the one pictured below if you have a different layout. However, the same components will be there.
How to move post to a new forum (if you accidentally post it in the wrong forum), you can move your post directly to where you want it to go using the following steps (this will not work for Mini forums though!):
Click "Duoling" in the editing window, because it is a drop down menu.
Select the forum you want in the menu
Troubleshooting: http://www.duolingo.com/topic/647 If you are having technical problems, post in this forum. Always note in your post what Operating System and Browser you're using. For example, I use Windows7/Forefox. Find the link to this forum on the right side of the main Discussion page. Depending on which layout you have, you might need to scroll down until you see miniature flags.
I don't use Macintosh, but I also have never been able to use my microphone with Firefox in Duolingo. I always thought it was just a problem with my computer, but now I wonder if it's because I use Firefox.
