Interesting....I was taught to use a different form of this "Мене звати Лінда." Is there any difference between звати and звуть?

They both say the same thing. I've heard both used by Ukrainians. I think мене звуть is considered more Russian and the other more Ukrainian.

Is мене звуть possibly суржик? Where мене звати and меня звуть becomes мене звуть? I heard a lot of суржик when I lived in Kyiv (2002-2004).
