In order to get better writing Spanish, try tweeting with Spanish speakers on Twitter, Lang-8 or participate on the Spanish forums aquí en Duolingo.
Speaking: Find a language exchange partner online or offline. Just talk and enjoy yourself. You will achieve your language goals!
Thanks! I will just have to bite the bullet and do things like that. I am still pretty dependent on being able to point at the underline of a word and have it translated for me!
The first time, I got on Twitter como un hispanohablante, I copied and pasted different tweets. I learned how to tweet like the global citizens of Twitter en español. Also the comment section of YouTube (or any social forum) provides great insight into how some people speak/ converse via text.
Remember, no on will know that you don't speak/write Spanish.
Congratulations to you!! Don't forget to use the "ñ", because that title looks pretty awkward...
Ok, no problem. To change your keyboard configuration just google "configure spanish keyboard" specifying your operating system (Mac, Windows, etc.). After you change your keyboard settings, you will be able to write your "ñ", "¡" and "¿". Here are the instructions for changing the settings of a Windows 7 keyboard. Also, there should be a video on youtube that indicates you how to change the default language of your computer, like this.
Thank you! Only got it a few days ago - so about 100 days or so - but I've only been able to do that because I've got a lot of free time at the moment.
Congrats! Have you ever had a conversation with a native or a Spanish speaker? try to find a Spanish partner to speak with, and stay motivated, and last but not least try to strengthen your speaking and writing skills if you want to master Spanish.
Thanks! Though my job I have a chance to talk to one person who is a native Spanish speaker. He's super helpful, but it's hard to get Spanish lessons when I'm suppose to be working! I think you're right...I need to practice speaking more to stay motivated.
Gracias por tu consejo!
Congratulations! I was excited just to make 100 days. :-). I live in an area of many Spanish speaking people, and some of them are very helpful if I ask questions. Listening to Spanish on TV hasn't worked for me as they speak so quickly I can't keep up. In person, I use "despacio" a lot... lol. I am not good at speaking it either, but if I have an opportunity to write it down first, it gives me time to think about what I'm saying, and it helps a lot both with speaking and writing. Keep up the good work!
You will be fluent so fast by getting all the practice you do. 365 days went really fast...you'll be there soon!
So Today is your one year anniversery in Duo Lingo. Do you have any suggestions ?
Be patient! You can't learn it overnight, but working every day helps to get it into your mind.
Advice I got from other Duolingo users that worked for me were: Listen to Complete Spanish language transfer www.languagetransfer.org and this website to help remember the tenses. http://www.spaleon.com/pres.php?random=1=Random+selection%21
And I talk to my dogs a lot in Spanish. It helps to be able to figure sentences out - and they act like they know exactly what I meant!
