Thank you for this explanation! I spent Easter 1988 in Poland during a school exchange and enjoyed it very much.

is Wesołych Świąt for Easter only, or any holiday? also, is the Easter Monday an offiical holiday in Poland?

March 27, 2016

It's for any holiday, but most used for Easter and Christmas.

The long version is "Wesołych Świąt Wielkanocnych". (Easter only)

Yes Easter Monday is official holiday in Poland. It's even one of few days when shops have to be closed.

Uniquely for Easter, we also have a colloquial (and sometimes a bit humorous) "Wesołego/smacznego jajka!". You can feel free to use it almost in any situation especially for posts on the internet.
