Hej allihopa,

I have been watching some Swedish TV, and realised that when I speak Swedish, I sound nowhere near the presenters. However, when I watch the Bridge (Swedish/Danish version), I sound more like the Swedes on the show. However, most of the Swedish I do hear is the Stockholm accent. What accent should I be speaking in?

Tack så mycket!

I'd say speak whatever dialect you want to.

But the dialect that is most easy to understand by everyone is Rikssvenska, the dialect used by most news presenters, and everyone that wants to hide where they are from.

I just watched a little from "The Bridge", and the main character, Saga Norén, speaks very clear Rikssvenska. So she sounds nothing like the local dialect in Malmö, where the story is set.

Well it's a bit strange, because it's pronounced so very clearly. But I'd say it's Rikssvenska with a bit of Stockholm dialect in the background.
