iOS app improvement.

  • 1486

I have few thoughts. There could be a few improvements of iOS app.

1) Add Tips and notes which you can see in the web into the app.

2) After you finish some advanced section, when you review the old section, some new vocabulary can be added into the existing section for the improvement.

3) It is much nicer to add the feature that android app has, if you has error of one question, the app can bring it up at end of each section.

4) Improved Offline feature, people cannot have network all the time, also it can reduce the network access stress on duolingo server.

This is my wishlist. Feel free to add yours. Then we can let developer know. Also I am happy to contribute for this lovely app.

I think the apps should also have the timed practice and progress quiz as well. Maybe the words section as well.

Wouldn't an offline feature mean that you must download exercises/more content? Idk, maybe it's just me and not having super much space on my older iphone4, so I'm not really eager to download something that I practically wouldn't use anyways. Most of the time when I'm using the app I'm chilling and using wi-fi. I even used the app on a bus and the normal mobile network (64kBit/s), which worked quite well.

The last time I used the app there were plenty of spelling mistakes, it would probably be better to get rid of them, before something else is added to the app.

1) Add Tips and notes which you can see in the web into the app.

Duolingo is currently running an A/B test on Tips and Notes (on the website) to see on what extent it beneficial for the (web)users to have it. If it shows to be statistically highly beneficial, they'll invest more developers time into making it possible for apps.

4) Offline feature, people cannot have network all the time, also it can reduce the network access stress on duolingo server.

iOS app doesn't have the Offline mod?
According to this user-feeded (so non-official) information it has (or had, maybe?) it.

Offline is for the current skill row only and only while progressing through the course. Once the tree is complete, no more off-line is possible (for that course).

Edit: BTW I am describing iOS - I have no experience of Android

Thanks for your reply.

About your first answer, yes it requires more effort for developer to add into the app. Include UI design, usability test and so on. From a user prospect point view, it will help user to remember the words. It is rally nice to have that in the app.

On the other hand, the offline mode does not have good user experience and it is very limited. I may call it the beta version. Even android version sometime dose not work as well. I think they need to improve it.
